Produce winning License applications with XaitPorter
XaitPorter was born in 2001, when BP Exploration Norway contacted Xait saying “there must be a better way of producing documents in teams than Word” and requested an application for this. Xait developed XaitPorter to help BP in their workflow and collaboration process to create better applications.

Which License Application would you want to deliver?
The background behind BP’s request was that they wanted a better tool to produce license application for the Norwegian Government for acreage on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
In Norway the Norwegian Government awards acreage on the Norwegian Continental shelf to oil companies based on the quality technical application. Writing these applications involves a large, multi-disciplinary, cross-site teams that must collaborate for a lenghty period of time to produce a comprehensive final document. In addition, the oil companies must involve and collaborate with partners on these projects.
BP used XaitPorter for their license applications in 2001 and met with great success. In fact, BP were so successful that they sponsored further development of XaitPorter.
Should XaitPorter stay a “secret”?
Since then several other oil companies have started using XaitPorter. XaitPorter has now become the standard application for license applications in Norway. In the APA 2009 and the 20th Licensing Round in Norway, about 95% of the applications handed in to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate were produced in XaitPorter.
XaitPorter gives companies the possibility to work several people on the same document simultaneously or in partnership with other companies – in real time. In the words of a XaitPorter use, “it takes away the chaos inherent when producing documents in teams. It helps to streamline the process and take care of the workflow”.
But, XaitPorter can also be used for any other type of applications.
