9:15-10:00 Session title – “Ten top tips for winning tenders”

Are you keen to embrace new ideas that will help you to win more bids, more easily? Do you want to take some of the pain out of proposal development? Whether you’re looking to transform your proposal operations – or to fine-tune already high-performing capabilities – this session will help.

Drawing on work with numerous proposal centres worldwide, one of Europe’s top proposal experts will share best practice in ten areas that can transform an organisation’s proposal performance and win rates. By the end, you’ll have assessed your company’s current proposal maturity – and identified potential improvement opportunities and priorities.

Presenter – Jon Williams PPF.APMP is Managing Director of Strategic Proposals, one of the world’s leading proposal management organisations. Jon started his career in procurement and was a board director of PMMS, the leading purchasing consultancy. Having set up and managed Compaq’s Strategic Bid Centre, radically increasing win rates, he founded Strategic Proposals’ UK business in 2001. Since then he has worked with sales and proposal organisations in over 20 countries – facilitating must-win bids, building proposal centres and delivering highly-praised training courses.

Jon co-authors the popular blog ‘The Proposal Guys’ (www.theproposalguys.com), and writes regularly for magazines such as ‘Proposal Management’. Both a Fellow of APMP (the Association of Proposal Management Professionals) and an accredited Proposal Professional, Jon served as the first chief executive of the Association’s UK chapter.

Jon can be reached via email to jw@strategicproposals.com or by phone on +44 (0)781 333 2294.

10:00-10:45 Session title: What does a reader actually read?

What does your eye look at when you open up a page? And how does the reader read your document. The perception of reading is an interesting study, and it is valuable for writers to have this knowledge. Per Henning Uppstad is in charge of a research lab focussing on eye-tracking when people are reading. Uppstad will demonstrate this, and how this can help scientists unlock the secrets of reading.

Presenter – Per Henning Uppstad is associate professor at The national centre for reading education and research at the university of Stavanger. He holds a PhD in general linguistics from University of Lund, Sweden, with main research interest in the developement of skills in general and literacy skills in particular.
